Coronavirus/COVID Updates

Beloved in Christ,

In light of recent developments, taking into consideration the local and federal government’s response to the spread of Coronavirus / Covid-19 and with the blessing of our Metropolitan, we have taken the decision to do our part in reducing every one’s exposure and the spread of the virus.

In addition to all the hygienical recommendations we have sent previously and basic common sense (if you are feeling sick or if you suspect you have been exposed to the virus stay home, avoid crowded places and seek medical attention):

Effective today, St.John the Baptist will suspend all non-liturgical/non critical activities (Coffee/Social Hour/ Pan-Orthodox dinner, Sunday School, GOYA activities, Book and Soup etc.).

All Sunday (Vespers, orthros, Divine Liturgy) and Weeknight Lenten Services ( Great Compline, Pre-Sanctified, Akathist etc.) will continue as scheduled.

If you feel uncomfortable coming to church please visit one of the existing online service streams at  https://www.goarch.org/live-broadcasts  We are also working on creating our own live stream which should be available soon.

While we reduce our exposure by avoiding extra-activities & extra contact, don’t forget to check in with your friends that are at home. A phone call or a text we’ll go a long way. Our seniors are most at risk so don’t forget about them.

You can still make your Stewardship Contribution online using the GIVE+ on your phone, on our website at http://stjohndfw.info or by mail.

May our loving and merciful God give healing to those affected, and strength and peace to all our faithful members.

A Prayer for Deliverance

“O God Almighty, Lord of heaven and earth, and of all creation visible and invisible, in thine ineffable goodness, look down upon thy people gathered in thy name. Be our helper and defender in this day of affliction. Thou knowest our weakness. Thou hearest our cry in repentance and contrition of heart. O Lord who lovest mankind deliver us from the impending threat of this new disease. Send thine angel to watch over us and protect us. Grant health and recovery to those suffering from this virus. Guide the hands of physicians, and preserve those who are healthy that we may continue to serve thee in peace and glorify thy most honorable and majestic name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages. Amen.”

In Christ,

Fr. Vasile
