Youth Ministries Rollout 2021

On Sunday 9/26 we rolled-out our new Youth Ministries programs for the year 2021-2022.

Here are the highlights:

  1. Youth Ministries benefit this year from a major reboot. All Programs have been updated with clear mission statements & objectives and staffed with appropriate personnel for the year. Involvement of families is heavily encouraged and critical for the success of the programs. 
  2. A new Youth Ministries website was launched and all Children and Youth Workers will have to register on the website before school starts, October 3. The website contains all information for the your programs, mission statements, personnel, calendars etc. https://stjohndfw.membershiptoolkit.com/
  3. Church School team, led by Jennifer Hock, will continue with the One Parish Curriculum approach that teaches the same lesson each Sunday from K-Adults. This allows families to entertain cross generational discussions on the same topic each week. This year we will study the Gospel of Mark and all its implications for our Holy Tradition and faith practices. Teachers will have weekly meetings to better prepare for Sunday lessons. School starts October 3. 
  4. GOYA, led by Ian Rehmet, will concentrate on the practical application of the faith through activities including: worship, orthodox life discussions and service. GOYA has a robust and enthusiastic team of advisors, trained according to Archdiocese Youth Workers standards.  The calendar for the year was also presented.
  5. Ian also talked about HOPE, JOY, Young adults, who were also featured  with new mission statements and objectives. Family involvement is critical for the younger kids activities. 
  6. Harriet Blake presented the outlook of the other youth programs like: Vacation Bible School (VBS), Oratorical Festival and Greek Dance.
  7. Fr. Vasile presented a few of of the special Youth programs like : Altar Servers, Myrrhophores and Youth Music Ministry
